Resin flooring for television and film studios
Ecoflor installs flooring for commercial television and film studio projects. We discuss the visual brief, camera movements, set layout and production programme to define the preparation, levelling and resin finish required.

Choose the finish around the production brief
Colour, sheen and texture affect how a studio floor appears under lighting. Discuss samples with the production team, alongside expected traffic, equipment movement, cleaning and any requirements for set changes or recoating.
Epoxy coatings and polyurethane resin finishes should be assessed against the brief. No single floor paint is the best choice for every studio.
Camera movement and surface requirements
Provide the camera and equipment requirements, including any defined floor tolerances and measurement criteria. Existing slab condition, joints and transitions need consideration alongside the finish. Our floor levelling service can be discussed where the substrate requires correction.
Project example: Critical for Hat Trick Productions and Sky 1
Ecoflor worked with Hat Trick Productions on the set of the medical drama Critical. The studio floor package combined levelling screeds with a white high-gloss resin finish and hospital-style floor markings.
The work included reinforced base levelling of the existing concrete, followed by fine screed applied to a laser-levelled grid. The completed set used white polyurethane resin flooring across approximately 22,000 square feet.
The project involved 60 tonnes of screed: 40 tonnes for the base levelling and a further 20 tonnes applied to the controlled grid. These details describe that installation; the scope for a new studio follows its own substrate and production requirements.
Preparation and installation programme
Existing coatings, contamination, damage and levels need assessment before installation. Our surface preparation service forms part of the work. Allow for preparation, repairs, application and curing before filming or equipment movement resumes.
Share access restrictions and the time available between productions. Phasing and protection of adjacent sets or equipment should be agreed as part of the programme.
Studio flooring questions
Can you provide a particular colour or sheen?
Send the design brief and reference samples. The proposed finish should be reviewed under the intended lighting before the final choice is agreed.
Will a coating make an uneven floor suitable for cameras?
A coating alone should not be assumed to correct levels. Share the required tolerances and existing survey information so levelling and finish requirements can be assessed separately.
What affects the cost?
Area, preparation, levelling, repairs, finish, markings and access influence the quotation. Plans and photographs help establish the initial scope.
