Microcement

Microcement flooring for commercial interiors

Ecoflor installs microcement and decorative concrete-effect flooring for commercial projects. We work with the required appearance, existing substrate and intended use to discuss an appropriate system and installation scope.

What is microcement flooring?

Microcement describes a thin decorative cement-based finish applied over a suitably prepared substrate. The build, preparation and protective finish depend on the selected system. It creates a different result from mechanically polishing the existing concrete slab.

Compare our microtopping service and commercial polished concrete flooring to discuss which approach fits your project.

Colour, texture and commercial design

Microcement can be considered for a concrete-effect appearance in shops, showrooms, reception areas and other commercial interiors. Agree the colour, texture and sheen using samples, and discuss how the finish will meet adjoining materials, thresholds and fittings.

For a completed example, view our Micro Top Concrete case study. Samples and project examples help discuss appearance, but the final result also depends on the substrate and agreed application.

Check suitability for the working area

Provide expected footfall, wheeled traffic, furniture movement, cleaning products and any likely spills. Wet areas, exterior locations and specialist performance requirements need specific system assessment; a general microcement description should not be treated as approval for every location.

For more demanding industrial traffic, discuss our industrial resin flooring options against the brief.

Preparation and installation

Existing finishes, moisture, movement, cracks and levels need assessment. Our surface preparation service forms part of the work. The selected system determines the preparation, application stages and protective finish.

Agree the total build and finished level before work starts. Joints and interfaces need detailing, and a thin finish should not be assumed to correct an unstable or uneven substrate.

Microcement costs and programme

Price depends on area, existing floor condition, preparation, system, detailing and access. Send plans and photographs for an initial discussion rather than relying on a generic square-metre price. Allow for each application stage and curing before the area returns to use.

Commercial microcement questions

Can it be applied over an existing floor?

Possibly, after assessing condition, stability and compatibility. Removal or repairs may be needed before the decorative finish can be installed.

Will it look exactly like polished concrete?

No. It is a separate decorative finish, with its own appearance and system requirements. Samples help compare the options.

Can work be planned around trading hours?

Share the available closures and access restrictions. Feasibility depends on the selected system, work area and time required for preparation and curing.
