Can the existing floor be retained?
The existing finish must be assessed before an overlay is proposed. Adhesion, movement, moisture, contamination and damaged areas influence whether it can remain in place. Loose or unsuitable materials may require removal, and repairs may be needed before preparation and application.
Retaining a suitable floor can reduce the extent of strip-out, but an overlay should not be assumed to resolve problems beneath the existing covering. The proposed approach follows assessment of the floor and its intended use.
