A decorative wearing finish
This service concerns a specified screed or topping intended to form the finished floor surface after the appropriate finishing process. It should be distinguished from an underlay screed installed beneath another floor covering. The product, build and finish must suit the intended use.

Colour and surface appearance
Samples help establish colour, texture and sheen. Discuss the desired concrete-effect appearance, panel layout and transitions to adjoining floors. The available finish depends on the selected system, so agree expectations before installation.

Specify for retail and hospitality use
Provide the expected footfall, furniture movement, cleaning products and likely spills. Entrances, serving areas and other locations exposed to moisture may need different performance or detailing from general customer areas. The proposed finish and protective treatment should be reviewed against these conditions.
Substrate preparation and finished levels
Existing coatings, contamination, moisture, cracks and joints need assessment before a topping is selected. Our surface preparation service forms part of the work, with repairs included where required.
Agree the overall build and finished height at doors, thresholds and adjoining surfaces. A thin decorative finish does not replace assessment of an unstable substrate or structural movement. If underfloor heating is present, include its details for system compatibility review.
Installation and care
The programme depends on preparation, the selected topping, finishing stages and curing conditions. Share the available closure and access arrangements before work is planned. The installed floor will need cleaning and maintenance appropriate to its finish and use.
Polished screed questions
Can every screed be polished and left exposed?
No. The selected material must be intended for the proposed exposed finish and operating conditions. An underlay product should not be assumed suitable as a wearing surface.
Can it be installed over an existing floor?
Possibly, after checking substrate condition, compatibility and available build height. Removal or repairs may be needed.
What affects the cost?
Area, preparation, repairs, system choice, detailing and access influence the quotation. Plans, photographs and samples help define the scope.
