Ease of Decontamination

Resin flooring for specialist cleaning requirements

Ecoflor can discuss resin flooring for facilities with defined decontamination and cleaning requirements. Product selection needs to follow the facility’s specification, exposure conditions and required test evidence.

Send your specialist flooring brief with the location, floor area, existing condition and relevant technical requirements.

Assess the complete system

Specify the substances, cleaning methods, chemicals, temperatures and traffic the floor must accommodate. Surface finish, joints, junctions, repairs and maintenance all need consideration.

Discuss the proposed system’s evidence and any site trials required before selection. A general resin description does not establish performance for a specialist facility or every contamination scenario.

The following example describes an Ecoflor project at Urenco. Its specification and site trials relate to that project and should not be assumed to establish suitability for other facilities.

Client: Urenco

System installed: Seamless epoxy self smoothing floor topping

We were invited to recommend flooring for the refurbishment of a unit within Urenco’s huge Capenhurst uranium enrichment facility. With many specialised technical requirements to meet, we completed a number of detailed site trials to ensure the suitability and performance of our recommended solution.

Our 3mm seamless epoxy self smoothing floor topping was determined to be the selected option for the client. This surface was selected for its high gloss surface (ideal for maintaining high standards of cleanliness) as well as its anti slip features and impressive durability.

To prepare for the application our team prepared the unit’s existing floors using our Superprep diamond grinding machines. The project used machines equipped with HEPA 14 filters for dust control during grinding.

Throughout the installation, we adhered to Urenco’s stringent health and safety procedures, completing the initial 6,000 square meters of flooring safely, quickly, on time and on budget. The original project account records installation of over 14,000 square metres across various areas.
