Choosing the Best Car Park Flooring Options

Compare flooring options for commercial car parks

Choosing a car park floor starts with the deck location, existing substrate, traffic and required performance. An exposed upper deck, an internal parking level and a basement may need different systems and details. Ecoflor installs car park coatings and refurbishment systems to an agreed project specification.

Exposed decks and waterproofing

For decks open to the weather, discuss the waterproofing design, drainage, movement joints, upstands and other interfaces. The required traffic and weather performance must be checked for the complete specified system. See our exposed deck waterproofing options.

Internal and basement car park coatings

Internal decks need a finish selected around vehicle traffic, turning areas, pedestrian routes and cleaning. Basement car park coating enquiries should also identify moisture conditions and any existing water ingress. A decorative or traffic coating should not be assumed to resolve an underlying water problem.

Epoxy, polyurethane and other resin options

The resin type alone does not establish suitability. Compare the proposed system against the required wear, fluid exposure, texture and movement performance. Epoxy coatings and other resin systems have different specifications; the choice should follow the project brief and supporting product information.

Where a rapid installation is needed, discuss the available work window and conditions before choosing a fast-curing system. Preparation and return-to-traffic requirements still form part of the programme.

Ramps, pedestrian routes and markings

Identify gradients, turning points, entrances and areas exposed to water. Surface texture and cleaning requirements should be considered together. Bay markings, route colours and signage can be included in the agreed layout.

Preparation and car park refurbishment

Existing coatings, cracks, joints and damaged concrete need assessment before work begins. Our car park refurbishment service covers discussion of the existing floor and proposed scope. For a completed example, view the Gatwick Airport premium car park case study.

Car park flooring questions

Which option is best for my car park?

There is no single best system for every deck. Supply the location, exposure, traffic, substrate condition and performance brief so suitable options can be assessed.

Can the car park stay open during work?

Phasing depends on access routes, separation of work areas and the selected system. Share the operating requirements and possible closures at quotation stage.

What affects the cost?

Floor area, preparation, repairs, waterproofing details, finish, markings and access all affect the price. Include plans and photographs with your enquiry.
