Flooring selection where moisture is a concern
Ecoflor can assess flooring requirements for commercial and industrial premises where moisture affects the base or the surface in use. Identifying the source and extent of moisture is an important part of choosing the system and preparation scope.
Discuss your commercial flooring project with the location, area, existing finish and details of the moisture problem.
Moisture in the substrate
Moisture within or below a concrete base can affect the suitability and adhesion of a new finish. Provide any test results, information about the slab construction and damp-proof membrane, and the history of blistering or coating failure.
The proposed system needs to be selected against the assessed conditions and the manufacturer’s requirements. Moisture-tolerant materials or a specified moisture-control treatment may be considered where suitable, but they are not a universal solution to every damp floor.
Water on the surface
Spills, washdown, leaks and standing water need separate consideration from moisture within the slab. Tell us about cleaning frequency, drainage, chemicals and how long the floor remains wet.
Texture, joints, coving and drainage interfaces can affect the specification. Water resistance of a finish should not be confused with waterproofing the complete construction.
Investigate recurring problems
Where an existing floor has failed, share photographs, previous product details and repair history. The cause should be assessed before simply applying another coating.
Leaks, drainage problems or structural issues may require work beyond the floor finish. Agree the boundaries of the preparation, repairs and installation scope.
Compare suitable flooring options
Explore epoxy flooring options and polyurethane systems with Ecoflor against the actual site conditions. The complete build-up matters more than a generic resin label.
For covered parking areas, see our basement car park coating service. For routine washdown environments, discuss the requirements alongside hygienic flooring systems.
Plan installation and maintenance
Assessment, preparation, repairs and curing affect the programme. Include access restrictions and your required reopening date in the brief. After installation, follow the selected system’s cleaning instructions and inspect for damage or recurring water issues.
