HTC Superfloor

HTC Superfloor concrete polishing for commercial premises

Ecoflor installs polished concrete finishes for commercial and industrial interiors, including projects specified around the Superfloor process. We assess the concrete, desired aggregate exposure and finish to discuss a suitable grinding and polishing scope.

What is Superfloor?

Superfloor is a process of mechanically grinding and refining concrete through a defined sequence. The intended finish and the properties of the existing slab influence the work required. It uses the concrete as the finished surface rather than creating a separate decorative overlay.

Husqvarna’s current Superfloor guidance describes Platinum, Gold, Silver and Satin processes. The manufacturer notes that expected results vary with the floor and that specifications should be agreed before work. If your brief uses an older HTC finish name, send the specification so the intended result can be clarified.

Choose aggregate exposure and sheen

Discuss how much aggregate you want to reveal and the preferred surface sheen. Existing concrete composition, placement, repairs and previous treatments influence the appearance. A sample area can help establish what is achievable on your floor before the full programme is agreed.

For an overview of options, visit our commercial polished concrete flooring page. Where a separate thin decorative finish is needed, microtopping is a different service to discuss.

Assess the existing floor

Existing coatings, contamination, cracks, joints and levels need review. Our concrete floor grinding service forms part of the preparation discussion. Repairs may remain visible in the finished concrete, so appearance expectations should be agreed early.

Plan for commercial use

Provide the expected footfall, vehicle or trolley traffic, cleaning regime and any required slip, electrical or other performance criteria. Suitability and evidence should be checked for the proposed finish and operating conditions. A polished appearance alone does not establish every performance requirement.

See the Swift Cycles case study for an example of a completed commercial project.

Superfloor questions

Can every existing concrete floor be polished?

Suitability depends on the condition and desired result. Share photographs and available slab information for an initial review; a site assessment or sample may be needed.

Does it need maintenance?

Yes. Agree the cleaning and care requirements for the finished floor, including the appropriate equipment and products. Service life depends on use and maintenance.

What affects the installation price?

Area, access, existing finishes, repairs, grinding requirements and desired sheen affect the quotation. Include the work window and operational restrictions.
