What is epoxy quartz screed?
Epoxy quartz screed is a resin flooring system incorporating graded quartz aggregate. The screed is applied to a prepared base and finished with the specified sealer. Colour blends, texture and detailing allow the floor to be considered for spaces where appearance and day-to-day use both matter.
The selected manufacturer’s specification determines the thickness, preparation, primer and sealing coats. Movement joints and other necessary details must be accommodated; a continuous resin finish does not remove the need to design these correctly.
Where can it be used?
Epoxy quartz flooring can be considered for retail showrooms, commercial interiors and industrial work areas. Suitability depends on traffic, loading, cleaning and exposure. For kitchens, wet processing or areas with hot washdowns, discuss the operating conditions before choosing between epoxy and other industrial resin flooring systems.

See Ecoflor’s epoxy quartz resin screed installation for Brompton Cycles in Covent Garden. The case study covers concrete preparation, coloured quartz screed and the sealed showroom finish.
Specify the finish around your premises
- Appearance: discuss the colour blend and review a sample of the proposed finish.
- Traffic: identify pedestrian routes, trolleys, machinery and any concentrated loads.
- Slip resistance: agree the required texture with expected water, contaminants, footwear and cleaning in mind.
- Chemical and temperature exposure: provide details of process spills and cleaning products so the proposed system can be checked against current technical data.
- Edges and junctions: include coving, thresholds, drainage interfaces and movement joints in the scope.
Preparation and installation
The condition of the existing base affects the specification and price. Existing coatings, contamination, moisture and damaged areas need assessment before installation. Read about our floor preparation services.
The agreed programme covers preparation, any repairs, priming, screed application and sealing. We also need to account for access, adjacent operations and curing before the area returns to use.
Epoxy quartz flooring questions
How much does epoxy quartz flooring cost?
A quotation depends on floor area, substrate condition, repairs, system build-up, detailing and access. Photographs, drawings and a description of your operations help us establish the scope. A site assessment may be needed before the specification and price can be confirmed.
How soon can the floor be used?
Return-to-service times depend on the chosen system and site conditions. Foot traffic, wheeled loads and chemical exposure may require different curing periods. Agree these with the installation programme rather than relying on a general curing time.
Is epoxy quartz flooring suitable for wet areas?
It depends on the system, surface texture, drainage and cleaning regime. Tell us about washdowns, spills and temperatures at the enquiry stage. For more demanding hygiene requirements, see our hygienic flooring guidance.
How should the floor be maintained?
Use the selected manufacturer’s cleaning guidance and compatible products. Remove spills promptly and inspect wear, damage and joints. Service life depends on the installation, exposure and maintenance; it cannot be promised from the material name alone.
