Start with the required performance
Terms such as anti-static, conductive and dissipative should not replace a measurable project specification. Identify the required performance, test methods and acceptance criteria with the person responsible for the facility’s static-control programme.

Epoxy and polyurethane options
Static-control resin systems are available in different constructions. Discuss epoxy and polyurethane options with Ecoflor against the specified electrical performance, traffic, cleaning, chemical exposure and surface texture.

Substrate assessment and installation
Existing finishes, moisture, damage and substrate condition affect preparation and adhesion. Share the original floor specification where available and describe any previous performance problems.
Agree preparation, installation details, testing responsibilities and handover requirements before work starts. Retaining or overcoating an existing floor requires a specific compatibility assessment.
Testing and maintenance
Include acceptance testing and ongoing verification in the project plan. Test results should be assessed against the agreed specification rather than a generic product label.
Follow the approved cleaning instructions. Cleaning residues and unsuitable treatments can affect the performance of a footwear-flooring combination, so maintenance should form part of the static-control arrangements.
Discuss specialist operating requirements
Where the site handles flammable materials or has other specialist hazards, provide the relevant assessment and specification. The flooring selection should follow those requirements; a general ESD description does not establish suitability for every facility.
