Resin Flooring FAQs
Planning a commercial or industrial floor? These answers cover the information Ecoflor needs to help you compare resin systems, plan installation and request a quotation.
Discuss your flooring project with Ecoflor. Include your location, floor area, existing surface and intended use.
Which resin floor is right for my premises?
Start with the activities the floor must support: pedestrian and vehicle traffic, loads, cleaning, spills, temperature and appearance. The condition of the base and available installation window also affect selection. Explore resin flooring options and discuss a specification for the complete floor.
What is the difference between epoxy and polyurethane flooring?
They use different resin chemistries and are available in different constructions, including coatings and thicker systems. Performance depends on the actual product and build-up. Compare our epoxy flooring guide and polyurethane flooring options against your traffic, cleaning and exposure requirements.
Can resin be installed over an existing floor?
Potentially, after assessment. The base must be suitable for the selected system. Existing coatings, contamination, moisture, damage and movement can affect the scope. Preparation, removal or repairs may be needed before installation. Photographs and any previous floor specification help establish the next step.
Why is surface preparation important?
Preparation provides a suitable base for the new finish. Ecoflor reviews the substrate and selects methods appropriate to its condition, which may include grinding or captive shot blasting. Read about our floor preparation service. Cracks and movement joints require appropriate detailing; a new finish does not resolve underlying structural movement.
How much does commercial resin flooring cost?
Area, base condition, preparation, repairs, system thickness, detailing and access all affect the quotation. A price for a simple coating cannot be applied to every screed or specialist system. Send plans, photographs, approximate area and intended use so the quotation can cover the required preparation and finish.
How long does installation take?
The programme depends on preparation, repairs, layers, site conditions and curing requirements. Pedestrian access, vehicle traffic and full chemical exposure may have different waiting periods. Provide your required reopening date and discuss it against the proposed system before scheduling work.
Can my business remain open during the work?
Phased installation may be possible where access and operating conditions allow. The site plan needs to address separation, ventilation, dust control, adjacent processes and curing. Tell Ecoflor which areas can close and what must remain operational.
Is resin flooring slip resistant?
Surface texture and the selected finish need to suit the expected conditions. Water, oil, other contamination and cleaning influence grip in use. Specify the required performance for relevant wet or dry conditions and maintain the floor using the recommended methods.
Can resin flooring withstand chemicals or heavy traffic?
Some systems are designed for demanding exposures, but suitability is product-specific. Provide vehicle types, loads and impact requirements. For chemicals, identify substances, concentrations, temperatures and likely contact times so compatibility can be checked.
How do I clean and maintain a resin floor?
Follow the care instructions for the installed system. Remove grit, clean spills promptly and use suitable cleaning products and equipment. Inspect damage, joints and heavily trafficked areas, and arrange repairs when needed. Maintenance requirements depend on the finish and the way the facility is used.
Do you install domestic resin floors?
No. Ecoflor undertakes commercial and industrial flooring projects. Our services are for businesses, contractors and organisations specifying or refurbishing operational premises.
What should I send with a quote request?
Include your project postcode, approximate area, existing floor condition, intended traffic and use, cleaning or chemical exposure, preferred appearance, access restrictions and target dates. Plans and photographs are useful.
