Microcement can be considered for commercial interiors where a decorative concrete-effect finish suits the design brief. Before choosing it, establish the existing base, expected traffic, cleaning conditions and the appearance required. The proposed system and its detailing need to suit the premises.
Ecoflor works on commercial and industrial projects only. Request a commercial flooring quotation with your postcode, approximate area, photographs and preferred finish.
Define the look you want to achieve
Discuss colour, texture, sheen and the relationship to walls, fittings and adjoining floors. Ask for samples and agree how the finished appearance will be assessed. Reference photographs can help communicate the brief, but should not replace agreement on the actual products and finish.
Our commercial microcement flooring service provides a starting point for discussing the project. Clarify whether your proposal is for microcement, another decorative topping or polishing the concrete itself; these are different specifications.
Assess the existing surface before specifying an overlay
Provide details of existing coverings, coatings, repairs, cracks and known moisture issues. Ask what assessment and preparation are needed and whether the proposed system is compatible with the base. Do not assume it can be installed over every tile, timber or concrete surface without removal or repair work.
Coordinate joints, thresholds, edges and available finished height. If underfloor heating is present, include the system details for compatibility review. Our floor preparation service explains the questions to consider before a new finish is installed.
Match the finish to commercial use
Retail, hospitality and workplace projects can have different traffic, furniture movement and cleaning requirements. Identify entrances, serving areas and locations where spills are likely. Ask for supporting information that applies to the complete proposed system, including its protective treatment.
Do not infer waterproofing, slip performance or outdoor suitability from appearance alone. Those requirements need to be considered explicitly in the specification. For alternative finishes, compare our decorative flooring options.
Plan installation with the wider fit-out
Confirm access, working hours, adjacent trades and protection of completed work. Ask for a programme covering preparation, application, finishing and return to the intended traffic and cleaning. Agree how equipment and furniture will be moved into the finished space.
The programme should reflect the selected system and site conditions. A generic layer count or drying period is not a substitute for the installer’s project plan.
Compare quotation scope and maintenance
Check that quotations include the same floor area, preparation, repairs, finish, joints and transitions. Identify exclusions and any conditions that cannot be assessed until old coverings are removed.
Request the installed system’s care instructions, including compatible cleaning products and equipment. Discuss how damage should be reported and how repair or renewal of the finish would be assessed. Do not assume maintenance-free use or a fixed service life.
Request evidence for environmental requirements
If environmental performance is part of procurement, share the required documentation with the project team. Ask which products and activities the available evidence covers rather than relying on a broad “eco-friendly” description.
Discuss your commercial microcement project
Send Ecoflor your location, approximate area, existing floor photographs, design references and required completion date. Include intended use, cleaning conditions and any written specification so the next assessment and quotation steps can be agreed.
