Epoxy flooring may suit your commercial premises when the proposed system matches the traffic, exposure, cleaning and appearance requirements. Start with the operating brief and the existing floor condition: the word “epoxy” alone does not define the thickness, finish or performance of an installation.
Ecoflor installs commercial and industrial flooring only. Request a project quotation with your location, approximate area, photographs and intended use.
What will the floor need to withstand?
Describe pedestrian and vehicle traffic, equipment loads, likely spills, cleaning agents and temperatures. Identify areas with different demands, such as entrances, production zones and customer-facing spaces. Send any written specification at the start.
Our epoxy flooring service provides a starting point for discussing the appropriate construction. Ask for supporting information that applies to the proposed system and your actual conditions rather than assuming universal chemical, slip or static-control performance.
Is the existing base suitable?
Provide details of existing coatings, repairs, cracks, contamination and known moisture issues. These can affect preparation and system selection. Ask which conditions can be assessed initially and which may remain uncertain until coverings are removed.
Our floor preparation service forms part of the specification discussion. A surface coating should not be assumed to resolve structural defects or persistent moisture problems; those concerns need appropriate assessment.
Which finish meets the commercial brief?
Discuss colour, texture, markings, edges and transitions alongside the operating requirements. Where appearance matters, agree samples and acceptance criteria. Slip performance should be considered with likely contaminants, footwear and cleaning arrangements.
If the requirements point beyond the proposed epoxy system, compare other industrial flooring options. Different zones within a facility may need different specifications.
Can the installation fit your programme?
Confirm access, working hours, adjacent activities and whether the premises will remain occupied. Agree arrangements for moving equipment, separating work areas and protecting the completed floor.
Ask when the specified system can accept its intended traffic and cleaning. Preparation, repairs, application and return to service should all be included in the programme. Read our installation planning guide for further questions.
How should you compare cost and service life?
Compare quotations on the same measured area, preparation, repairs, system build-up, detailing and access assumptions. Ask for exclusions and provisional items to be clearly identified.
Service life and maintenance costs depend on the installed system, operating conditions and care. Request project-specific guidance and any written warranty terms rather than relying on a generic number of years. Repairs or recoating may be options after assessment, but should not be assumed suitable for every damaged floor.
What aftercare will be needed?
Obtain cleaning instructions for the installed finish, including compatible products and equipment. Agree inspection arrangements and how damage should be reported. Our commercial epoxy maintenance guide explains the distinction between routine care and refurbishment assessment.
