Epoxy flooring maintenance for commercial premises
Maintain an epoxy floor using the cleaning and care instructions for the installed system. The appropriate products, equipment and frequency depend on the finish, traffic and contamination at your site. Cleaning can remove surface contamination; it does not repair a damaged coating or resolve an underlying substrate problem.
Ecoflor works with commercial and industrial premises only. For worn or damaged flooring, request a refurbishment quotation with your location, floor area, photographs and details of the existing finish.

Start with the handover information
Locate the system name, installation date and maintenance instructions. Confirm the recommended cleaning products, dilution, contact time and equipment. If these details are missing, ask the installer or product manufacturer before introducing a new cleaning method.
For a new installation, include cleaning requirements in the project brief. Our epoxy flooring service and installation guide explain the selection and handover questions to raise.
Set a routine around the working environment
Plan removal of loose dirt and grit, treatment of spills and the cleaning of traffic routes. Match the schedule to actual use rather than adopting a universal weekly or annual timetable. Busy production areas and quieter commercial interiors have different requirements.
Keep a record of the cleaning products and equipment in use. Follow the facility’s procedures for spills and wet work, and agree how cleaned areas return to service.

Choose compatible cleaning products and equipment
Check compatibility with the complete installed finish, including any topcoat. A product described as neutral, industrial or environmentally friendly is not automatically suitable for every resin floor. Confirm the specified dilution and method with the relevant product guidance.
Do not treat sanding, abrasive powders or an unspecified solvent as routine maintenance. If a mark will not respond to the approved cleaning method, seek advice before using a more aggressive treatment. Cleaning should not be described as increasing the floor’s chemical resistance.

Can an epoxy floor be pressure washed?
Check the installed system’s guidance before pressure washing. Confirm whether the method is permitted and the applicable equipment, pressure, temperature and working-distance limits. Consider the floor’s condition, edges, joints, drainage and adjacent equipment as part of that decision.
Do not assume pressure washing can restore coating strength, repair delamination or provide static-control performance. Specialist floor requirements need their own maintenance and verification arrangements.

When does a floor need assessment?
Record peeling, blistering, exposed substrate, damaged joints, changes in texture or unusual wear. Photograph the affected areas and note when the issue appeared, how the space is used and whether cleaning or operating conditions have changed.
A change in appearance does not automatically mean the whole floor needs resurfacing. Ask for an assessment of the cause and the appropriate scope, which may involve cleaning advice, local repairs or a more extensive refurbishment.

Plan repairs and recoating
Before adding a new coat, establish the condition of the existing system, preparation requirements and compatibility. Discuss access, phasing, application and curing, including when the floor can accept traffic and cleaning again.
Review floor preparation and the contractor selection checklist when comparing proposals. Ask what is included, what remains provisional and what aftercare information will be provided.

Send Ecoflor your refurbishment enquiry
Provide the site postcode, approximate area, photographs, known system details and a description of the problem. Include traffic, process exposure, cleaning methods and any shutdown constraints. Request a commercial or industrial flooring quotation so we can discuss the next step.
