Choosing between epoxy floor coatings, tiles, vinyl, timber and concrete finishes starts with how your premises operate. No material is the best choice for every commercial space. Compare the proposed system, the condition of the base, cleaning requirements and installation programme against the same project brief.
Ecoflor installs flooring for commercial and industrial projects only. Request a project quotation with your location, approximate floor area, current surface and intended use.

What are you comparing?
An epoxy coating is one type of resin floor finish. A thin coating and a thicker resin system should not be treated as interchangeable specifications. Ask what build-up is proposed, what preparation it needs and which operating conditions it is intended to accommodate. Our epoxy flooring page provides a starting point for discussing your requirements.
Similarly, “traditional flooring” covers different products and installation methods. Compare named systems and their supporting information rather than assuming that all tiles, vinyl or concrete finishes perform alike.

Questions to ask about each flooring option
- Epoxy coatings: is the proposed thickness and finish suitable for the traffic, exposure and existing base? What repairs and preparation are included?
- Tiles: how will joints, grout, transitions and local repairs be managed in the operating environment?
- Vinyl: what are the substrate, adhesive, joint and loading requirements for the selected product?
- Timber: how will the chosen finish be maintained, and does it suit the moisture conditions and activities in the space?
- Concrete finishes: what condition is the slab in, what appearance is achievable and what treatment or ongoing care is specified?
These are specification questions, not a ranking of materials. Different areas within the same premises may need different finishes.

Check performance against actual operating conditions
List pedestrian and vehicle traffic, loads, spill substances, cleaning chemicals and temperatures. Ask for information that applies to the proposed floor system and your conditions. Do not assume that every epoxy coating is waterproof, resistant to every chemical, suitable outdoors or appropriate for heavy industrial use.
Discuss slip performance alongside contaminants, footwear and cleaning. A surface description such as “smooth” or “textured” alone is not enough to establish suitability. For production and warehouse areas, explore our industrial flooring options as part of the specification discussion.

Compare installation and disruption
Ask each contractor to identify preparation, repairs, installation stages and return-to-service requirements. Existing finishes, moisture conditions, access and working temperatures can affect the programme. Agree when the area can accept its intended traffic and cleaning regime; application completion does not automatically mean full service can resume.
Use our resin flooring installation guide to prepare questions about access, phasing and handover.

Assess whole-project costs and maintenance
Compare quotations on a consistent scope: floor area, preparation, repairs, finish, edges, joints, access arrangements and programme. Include ongoing cleaning, inspection, potential repairs and operational downtime in your assessment. A generic lifespan figure or a claim that one material is always cheaper cannot establish value for your premises.
Request the cleaning and maintenance instructions for the selected system. If environmental performance is part of procurement, ask for relevant product evidence and its scope rather than relying on a broad “eco-friendly” label.

Discuss the right specification for your premises
Send Ecoflor your postcode, approximate area, photographs of the existing floor, traffic and exposure details, and required completion dates. Include any specification or procurement requirements so the discussion can focus on a suitable commercial or industrial installation.
