How to choose a commercial resin flooring contractor
Choose a resin flooring contractor who can explain the proposed system, assess the existing floor and provide a clear installation scope. For a factory, warehouse or commercial interior, compare preparation, performance requirements, access and aftercare alongside the price.
Ecoflor installs flooring for commercial and industrial premises only. Request a project quotation with your location, approximate floor area, photographs and target dates.
Start with the floor’s working conditions
Give each contractor the same brief so their proposals address the same job. Include pedestrian and vehicle traffic, equipment loads, cleaning methods, likely spills and the condition of the existing substrate. Identify entrances, drains, joints, ramps and areas where grip or appearance is particularly important.
If your facility has a written specification, send it with the enquiry. Ask how the proposed construction meets each requirement and what product information or testing will support the recommendation.
Compare complete systems, not just resin names
Epoxy, polyurethane, MMA and polyaspartic describe families of materials. Products within those families have different uses. Ask the contractor to identify the proposed preparation, primer, body coat or screed, finish and thickness, including any detailing around joints and drains.
Review resin flooring options and explain whether the priority is industrial use, decorative appearance, a demanding cleaning regime or restricted downtime. Obtain product-specific information for chemical exposure, temperature, slip resistance or static control where these matter to the project.
Make preparation part of the quotation
A quotation should state how the existing floor will be assessed and prepared, rather than simply pricing a new coating. Discuss removal of old finishes, repairs, contamination and moisture assessment. Establish what happens if the site inspection reveals work outside the initial allowance.
Read about Ecoflor’s floor preparation methods and ask which approach is proposed for your substrate. Agree responsibility for clearing the area, protecting adjacent operations and disposing of removed material.
Check relevant project experience
Ask for examples that resemble your operating environment and installation constraints. A decorative retail floor and a busy production area present different requirements. Review the work described in project accounts and ask about the contractor’s role, the system used and the handover arrangements.
Confirm current insurance information and any qualifications, manufacturer approvals or site requirements relevant to your job. If a particular brand is specified, ask for evidence relating to that product rather than assuming all resin installation experience is equivalent.
Agree the programme and reopening criteria
Discuss site access, working hours, preparation, application and curing as separate parts of the programme. Ask when the floor can accept pedestrians, vehicles, equipment and cleaning, and what conditions could change those dates. Agree whether the work can be phased and how installation areas will be separated from ongoing operations.
What should a commercial flooring quotation include?
- The area, system build-up and finish being priced.
- Preparation, repairs and any provisional allowances.
- Edges, joints, drainage details and line marking where required.
- Access arrangements, working hours and planned handover.
- Exclusions, responsibilities and how changes will be agreed.
- Cleaning instructions, maintenance advice and written warranty terms where offered.
Use these points to compare proposals on the same basis. A lower initial price may cover a different preparation allowance or scope. Clarify the differences before placing an order.
