Porthilly Shellfish – Polyurethane Floor Screed

Polyurethane Floor Screed

Porthilly Shellfish – Hygienic Polyurethane Floor System

Ecoflor worked with Porthilly Shellfish and their building contractor to install new polyurethane floor screed finishes and coved skirting for their new factory in Rock Cornwall. Taking a newly built unit, Ecoflor prepared the new concrete substrate.

Once the concrete slab was prepared, this was primed and a new polyurethane floor screed installed to 9mm thickness. This achieves a permanently non-slip surface, impervious to water and oils capable of withstanding heavy traffic and loadings.

To complete the project, Ecoflor applied a birds beak trim to the perimeter and finished with a 100mm high polyurethane coved skirting detail.

Our specialist installation team worked closely with the client’sĀ  team to design a system which be able to withstand the wet factory conditions.

To do this we recommended:

  • Preparation – it is the key to any resin floor finish’s long term performance.
  • Always use a good epoxy primer prior to resin floor applications to seal substrates.
  • Use a high performance polyurethane floor screed with proven long term performance.

With works taking only 10 days, the floors were handed back to the fit out team for the main internal works to be undertakenĀ  prior to art work being hung.

About Porthilly Shellfish – The Cornish Shellfish Experts!

Porthilly shellfish, based at Porthilly on the Camel Estuary, are growers, wholesalers and purifiers of Mussels, Oyster and Clams, quite simply they are the Cornish Shellfish Experts. Their business supplies other seasonal produce from the estuary and coastline including the increasingly popular Samphire which is a seaweed like vegetable also known as glasswort.
