Polished Concrete for Retail – Jollyes The Pet People – Belfast Boucher Road
Ecoflor worked with Jollyes The Pet People to install retail polished concrete floor finishes for their new store in Belfast. Taking an existing empty retail unit, Ecoflor ground off the previous vinyl adhesive and latex underlayment, back to the concrete substrate.
Once the concrete slab was revealed, this was densified and polished through a further seven stages to achieve a smooth, glossy polished concrete floor suitable for high retail foot traffic.
To complete the project, Ecoflor applied their 2 coat penetrating sealer which was diamond burnished on cure to achieve an easy to clean, protective layer for an easy to clean finish.
Our specialist installation team worked closely with the company’s store development team to design a system which would both look clean and smart and be suitable for a retail environment with minimum maintenance.
To do this we recommended:
- Heavy grinding to remove existing vinyl adhesives and latex.
- Densification to ensure the casting is dust free and of an even hardness for polishing.
- 7 stage grinding and polishing process to achieve a 3000 grit finish.
- Specialist impregnating surface sealer to ensure that spills can be easily removed without staining.
With works taking only 8 days, the floors were handed back to the shopfitting team for the main internal works to be undertaken and stands and signage to be fitted prior to stock intake.
